Music for your ceremony
There are a few key moments in your wedding ceremony where music makes all the difference. Let me take you through them, share my thoughts on each, and give you some song recommendations. In total, you’ll need five songs for your ceremony.
1. Processional (1 Song)
Traditionally, in an Australian ceremony between a bride and groom, this is when the bridal party and bride walk in. I recommend choosing just one song for this part—aisles aren’t usually that long, and having multiple songs (one for each person walking in) means you’ll only hear a short snippet of each.
Most processional songs have a long intro, which works beautifully for the flower girls and bridesmaids to enter. As the song builds, it usually aligns perfectly with the bride’s entrance.
2. Signing (3 Songs)
Choose three songs for the signing portion of the ceremony. This ensures a nice flow of background music while we complete the legal paperwork. A mix of romantic and upbeat songs works well here.
3. Recessional (1 Song)
This is the moment you’re officially married! After I introduce you as a newlywed couple, you’ll walk back down the aisle, and we want the energy to be fun and celebratory. Choose a happy, upbeat song—ideally, one without a long intro so the excitement kicks in straight away.
